Eli Chait With the outbreak of the novel coronavirus and the recent order to shelter in place in California, grocery stores are experiencing stock issues and can be very crowded. Meanwhile, restaurants are closing their doors and vendors that serve restaurants are experiencing the pain of significant decline in orders.
This is an incredibly difficult time for everyone in the food industry, and the average food wholesaler in the US is a small business about the size of the average restaurant. They don’t have big safety nets and their businesses are at now risk with the majority of their customers being closed.
For this reason, many wholesalers have begun taking orders directly from consumers and some are even offering home delivery. This can be a great solution to access great products at wholesale prices and stock up, while supporting businesses that need it. Below is a list of wholesalers that have started to sell direct to consumers and how to order from them. These are the same great wholesalers that have been supplying your favorite restaurants locally.
